Dr. Godley has over twenty years of clinical experience as a Licensed Psychologist. She consults with individuals, couples, families and groups, working primarily with adolescents and adults. Her expertise covers a wide range of mental health issues, including but not limited to depression, anxiety, life stress, relationship issues, grief and loss, career and life transitions, and issues of disability.
Dr. Godley’s caring approach to therapy is warm and accepting. Her proactive approach focuses on promoting life change. She teaches life skills and strategies for coping that are cognitive-behavioral/mindfulness in nature so that they may be immediately and actively applied to life. These skills and strategies are couched within an insight-oriented approach which processes and works through issues. This gives the therapeutic experience a balance of learning skills for change and coping, and gaining internal insight into patterns of behavior through self-reflection. Dr. Godley believes that each individual is faced with the challenge and opportunity to live their life fully even when life’s challenges appear encumbering and impossible to overcome.
Dr. Godley provides individuals with a model of living life according to the coping strategies she presents in therapy. She herself employs the strategies she teaches on a daily basis as she copes with the challenges of her own vision loss. Therapy with Dr. Godley is a team effort with Dr. Godley guiding the process of therapy, yet empowering each client to develop their own unique way of living life more effectively.
